Wine Pairings for the Week of September 5th, 2016


Each week, Wine Specialist Sarah Pierre brings you suggestions to complement your PeachDish meals. Sarah is one of the owners at 3 Parks Wine Shop in Glenwood Park, Atlanta. She paired up with the team of The Shed at Glenwood and The Pig and The Pearl and opened 3 Parks in 2013. Prior to opening the store, she spent most of her career working and managing notable restaurants in Atlanta and New York City. Sarah selects all of the wines that are offered at 3 Parks Wine Shop and also assists in pairing wines for local events and dinners throughout Atlanta.


SuperFood Grain Burger with Sweet Potato Leaf & Root Slaw

Chenin Blanc - This unique dish will go wonderfully with a slightly off dry wine. A Chenin Blanc will complement the sweet potato element as well as the spicier Sriracha in the dish. Suggestion: Champalou Vouvray, Loire Valley France


Sautéed Tofu with Greens, Tomato & Bulgur

Barbera D'Asti - This classic Italian red will have enough acidity to mirror the acidity in tomatoes, all while matching the lighter style of the dish. Suggestion: Vietti Barbera D'asti, Piedmont, Italy


Seared Chicken with White Barbecue Sauce & Fried Green Tomatoes

Cote du Rhone Rose - We aren’t out of rose season quite yet! When put to the test, a Cote du Rhone will match up to any BBQ sauce. The rose will have a slightly heavier feel while not overpowering the chicken in the dish. Suggestion: M. Chapoutier Belleruche Cotes du Rhone, France

Bordeaux - Herbed red meats pair well with a bordeaux blend due to the savory flavors in the wine. The bordeaux will add tannins and acid which will bring balance to this dish. Suggestion: Château Greysac Bordeaux, Medoc, France

Zinfandel - A Zinfandel will complement the sweet potatoes as well as the fall spices in the dish. The fruity flavors and moderate tannins of Zinfandel will blend this meal into a masterpiece. Suggestion: Neal Zinfandel Napa Valley, California

Gavi - Also known as Gavi, this Italian white from Piedmont, Italy will be a great partner to the earthy, fresh, and lively pasta dish. Gavi is light and zesty wine with a pop of lemon that will really complement. It is generally inexpensive, food friendly, and enjoyed young. Suggestion: Riva Leone Gavi, Piedmont, Italy

Vermentino - Classic wine rule “what grows together, goes together” is not always perfect, but with this pesto and vermentino….it's perfecto! Bright acidity and citrus aromas are just as unique as pesto. Suggestion: Santadi Villa Solais Vermentino, Sardinia, Italy
